A FURIOUS man has slammed Selwood Housing, accusing the association of failing to care for its tenants in a Bratton cul-de-sac.

Ian Jones, 27, has lived at his Selwood-owned property in Clover Grass Court for six years but says he is now looking to move elsewhere having grown fed up with the association.

He claims there are a number of issues blighting tenants there which are not being addressed by Selwood.

He said: “It’s an absolute disgrace to be honest.

“Recently there were three inches of water in the communal area which was really hazardous and a huge inconvenience.

“Each time someone came to fix it they would only suck the water up but didn’t solve the problem permanently.

“After weeks of pestering they finally fixed it but it took a lot of hard work and there are other issues which they don’t care about. The place looks like a bomb has hit it.

“When I first moved in I thought Selwood was alright but it’s gone more and more downhill in recent years. The only thing they care about is taking our rent from us, not our welfare."

A Selwood Housing spokesman said: “We are sorry for any inconvenience caused to our tenants at Clover Grass Court.

“We were called out to a flood caused by a defective washing machine. The machine was fitted with a “do not use” sign whilst we arranged for a replacement to be fitted.

“The flood was dealt with on that call out. However, despite this someone used the machine and flooded the area again.

“We were called out a second time and again cleared up the flood. We are now looking at replacing the flooring in the next few weeks due to the damage caused.

“We have also had an issue with the tumble dryer and this has been isolated after smoke was detected coming from it by the smoke alarm system.

“We have taken the decision to replace both the tumble dryer and washing machine in the communal laundry room at Clover Grass Court with new models.

“These will provide a larger capacity and will improve facilities. These commercial machines are due for delivery in the next few weeks.”
