WILTSHIRE Council has been named the best council to work for in Britain, according to a job and recruitment website.

Glassdoor, a website that holds a database of millions of company reviews, salary reports, benefits and interview reviews, compiled a list of top councils based on reviews from current and former employees.

Wiltshire Council came out on top, ahead of the likes of London Borough of Camden, Leeds City Council and Hertfordshire County Council.

Wiltshire Council leader, Baroness Scott of Bybrook OBE, said: “We are so pleased to be named the top council to work for in Britain.

“This is a real accolade and recognition of the effort we place to make Wiltshire Council an attractive organisation to work for, and a council that people choose.

“We believe in developing staff to enable them to reach their potential and have the skills needed to deliver a great service for our residents.

“We are planning to invest more money this year into staff development. A highly motivated and skilled workforce is key to delivering excellent services.”

Wiltshire Council corporate director, Carlton Brand said: “Glassdoor has developed a great reputation for being the go to source of information about companies and organisations so it’s fantastic to be recognised in this way.

“Our staff are really important to delivering high quality services and we offer training and support so that they can be successful in their roles.”
