NEARLY 50 children from schools across Trowbridge got stuck in at a half term rugby camp last week.
Held at Trowbridge Rugby Club, 48 children showed off their scrumming and rucking abilities in front of the watchful eyes of coaches from Active Trowbridge and Bath Rugby Club.
Robert Willcox’s two sons attended the camp and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Mr Willcox said: “Both my boys went with Active Trowbridge and had a really cracking time.
“Myles hasn't enjoyed rugby at Trowbridge Under 9 level that much recently but under the Active Trowbridge coaches he has blossomed and become a real talent.
“Some of the Under 11 players I coach at the club told me how amazing he is and even good enough to play in their age group.
“So I must say a huge thank you to the team for making me a very proud dad.”
The camp took place on Thursday February 16 and Friday 17 of half term, running from 8.30am until 3.30pm.
Hayley Bell, leisure services manager for Trowbridge Town Council, said: “It was a brilliant camp and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.
“It was a new project launched by us and it was so popular we’re going to run it again in April.
“We had kids who have never played rugby before and others who are keen players wanting to improve their skills.
“We’re seeing an increase in the number of kids wanting to get active and try out new sports which is absolutely fantastic.”
