PEOPLE across Wiltshire took part in all manner of whacky things to do their bit for Comic Relief.

Dee Dee Wilde, of the popular 1970s dance troupe Pan’s People, performed in Tesco Express with her gang of back-up dancers on Red Nose Day and encouraged shoppers to join in, raising £500 in the process.

She said: “It was absolutely fantastic, we all had a great time.

“It was really magical to see so many shoppers and members of staff get involved – lots of people were really going for it.

“Shoppers had a big smile on their faces as they walked in and saw what was going on which was lovely to see.

“A big thank you must go to everyone who made it possible.”

On Saturday, March 18, Fabric Magic in Trowbridge held a fun day in store and raised £507 by donating 15 per cent of all sales on the day from competitions, a tombola, cake sale and more.

At Candlelight Care, people were invited into the shop to have coffee and cake while manager Georgina Rogers dressed up as Superman to raise £24

Rhys Velvick, a chatty student at Wiltshire College, did a sponsored silence on Friday and raised over £100, with donations still pouring in.

He said: “I am so pleased that I managed to do it.

“I really did find it so hard and nearly slipped up a few times, but thankfully didn’t.

“I set myself a target of £100 and I have already raised that with donations still to be collected so I am chuffed I beat that.”

Staff at Specsavers in Warminster raised around £160 by wearing red and hosting a cake sale.
