BRADFORD Town got back to winning ways with a five-star performance to thrash Toolstation Premier Division basement boys Sherborne Town last Saturday.

After a run of three straight defeats, Alex Monks and Dan Cottle got two goals apiece as Danny Greaves’ side claimed a first victory since March 11.

Martin Lenihan broke the deadlock within 10 minutes of the kick-off at Trowbridge Road before Monks and Cottle both struck in the space of three minutes just after the half-hour mark.

Monks then got his second just two minutes after the restart but Cottle had to wait until the dying stages before he matched that tally, with his brace completing Bradford’s 5-0 win.

Manager Greaves, whose side host local rivals Melksham on Good Friday, said: “We went into the game on the back of a disappointing few weeks.

"We had five injuries to key players and two out with suspension too, so we were delighted with how it panned out.

“We can only beat what is in front of us and we know they would come here with a gameplan and try to make life difficult for us, as is always the case when you play teams at the bottom.

“We managed to get a goal quite early on and at half-time it was 3-0 and comfortable.

"I was particularly pleased with the clean sheet, it’s been a while since we have had one of those and before the game I would have settled for a 1-0 win.”
