POLICE officers patrolled beauty spots in the Warminster area on Wednesday afternoon after a spate of thefts from cars.
Areas that have been targeted heavily in recent months include the car parks at Cley Hill, just outside Warminster, and Stourhead in Stourton, where a number of valuable items have been stolen from cars.
A police spokesman said: “Over the coming months we're all hoping for better weather which will tempt us out into the countryside. Unfortunately this weather also attracts opportunist criminals who roam around looking for free gifts from vehicles.
“Make sure you don't become their next victim. Remain vigilant, leave important items at home or take everything with you when you walk away from your car.
“The message is clear - the only way to guarantee you do not become a victim is don’t leave anything in your car.”
