A BASKET filled with mini eggs was stolen from the shop window of Thorntons at Easter.
The shop, located in The Shires, invited customers to guess how many eggs were in the basket to be in with a chance of winning a chocolatey prize, but it was stolen on Saturday morning (April 15).
Lisa Webb, who works at Thorntons, said: “I really don’t know how they got away with it because it was a very heavy basket and not the easiest thing to carry out of a shop without anyone noticing, especially as the shop was open.
“Whoever did it replaced the basket in the window with a big egg they took from the shelf in the hope we wouldn’t notice it was missing – it seems like it was planned.”
Mrs Webb said CCTV footage had been reviewed but showed no signs of the basket being stolen.
