A NEW restaurant specialising in high quality food and tempting cocktails made from scratch has landed in Trowbridge.

The Steak and Lobster Shack, which opened its doors in Castle Street on April 21, will also operate as a late night venue with live bands and DJs at weekends after it secures its license next week.

Freshly cooked lobster and premium steaks will be served from the kitchen, headed up by head chef Tom Furnival, while manager Hugo Hiscocks, who was previously manager at The Archangel in Frome, will use his extensive knowledge of alcohol to rustle up a plethora of tempting cocktails.

Owner Francis Tieman, who will run the business alongside wife Hemi, said: “Quality is the key for us; we pride ourselves on quality food and impeccable service.

“We don’t think people should have to travel to Bath for a nice meal and decent cocktails so we’ve based ourselves on the kind of bar you would find in Bath or London.

“We noticed there was a gap in the market in Trowbridge and we wanted to be a bit different. This is somewhere people can come for a meal, enjoy a few cocktails and have a dance."

The venue features a restaurant, cocktail bar and upstairs VIP lounge that parties can hire out for the evening.

Head chef Mr Furnival, who previously worked at The Methuen Arms in Corsham, hopes his steaks ranging from £17 to £28, and speciality lobster bake, £22, will earn the restaurant the top spot on Trip Advisor in a short space of time.

Mr Hiscocks said: “All of our cocktails will be made from scratch and I want people to come up and challenge me.

“If we have the ingredients, and we probably will, there’s a very high chance we’ll be able to make the bespoke cocktail to suit anyone’s tastes.

“A lot of planning has gone into this and we’re confident it’s going to be a real success.”

2-4-1 cocktails, priced at £8.95, will be served every day between 7pm and 9.30pm and the venue will be open until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays.

An official launch night is being lined up for the end of May. For more information call 01225 763046.
