THE developer behind the new retirement home in Melksham is asking for suggestions on what it should be called.

Now that construction at the site in Spa Road is under way, McCarthy and Stone is inviting local people to enter its ‘What’s in a Name’ competition, to suggest a name for the development.

The plans will see the land that Withleigh House currently sits on transformed into 20 one and two bedroom retirement living apartments, designed for those aged 60 and over.

Kim Caldwell, regional sales and marketing director for McCarthy and Stone, said: “We feel it is important to design homes which reflect the character of the town, and want to give locals the opportunity to have their say and put their own stamp on the future plans.”

As well as the honour of naming the new development in Melksham, the person who comes up with the winning entry will also be awarded a cheque for £250.

To be in with a chance of naming the new development, send your name and contact details, along with your suggested development name, with the subject header ‘Melksham’ to mccarthyandstone@mccann.com.

The competition is open to people of all ages from Melksham and the surrounding areas, and the deadline for entries is June 16.
