WESTBURY residents are being urged to get active as part of a Wiltshire-wide community challenge.

TeamWestbury has been formed by the town’s Community Engagement Manager, Liam Cripps, as part of the #BigPledge London Calling challenge.

The #BigPledge is a community challenge designed to get people moving with a bit of friendly competition thrown in.

Last year Westbury finished second in Wiltshire, missing out only to Melksham.

Mr Cripps said: “This year, the Big Pledge is about completing set distances to collect the flags of the 30 countries who will be taking part in the World Athletics Championships later this year.

“People need to collect 10 countries for Bronze, 20 countries for Silver and all 30 countries to reach Gold and be entered into a prize draw for their chance to win a Fitbit.

“There is a challenge for everyone from beginners to athletics clubs and from swimmers to cyclists, so we hope to see lots of individuals and clubs sign up to join in the fun.

“We need as many people as possible to log steps, runs, swims, cycles and exercise classes to help the Westbury community area reach that highly coveted first-place spot.”

Competitors can enter as individuals or as part of a club or group they are already involved with.
