AN enterprising business owner is beaming after her firm picked up two awards at a national awards ceremony.

Busy Books, a small bookkeeping and accountancy based in Bratton, was named as the UK’s Small Business of the Year at the inaugural Small Awards, held in London on Thursday night.

The company was also named as the nation’s best service business by the judges – making it a night to remember for Natasha Penny, 31, who started up the business five years ago.

“It was completely unexpected, we were up against companies from all over the UK and we’re only a tiny business based in little old Bratton,” said Miss Penny, of Westbury.

“I asked for feedback on why we won and was told it’s because of our strong emphasis on customer service, our interaction with the community and because we do not fit the usual accountant stereotype.

“Winning the second award really topped the evening off and it’s a sign that our customers must think we’re doing an amazing job.”

The awards were handed out by comedienne and Great British Bake Off presenter Sue Perkins at Christ Church in Spitalfields.

In addition to the awards, Busy Books will also receive £1,000 worth of free advertising credit from Facebook, which sponsored the ceremony.

Since its inception five years ago, the business has developed into a four-woman team, with a fifth recruit starting soon, supporting around 200 local clients mostly through personal recommendation.

Miss Penny added: “The ceremony was brilliant and I managed to get a selfie with Sue Perkins, who was really nice.

“These awards with give us the chance to strengthen our already fantastic service and will make our customers feel even more like they chose the right accountants.”

In December last year, Miss Penny was named Accountant of The Year by The International Association of Bookkeepers (IAB).
