A CONTROVERSIAL planning application to build five new flats in Trowbridge has been approved, to the frustration of nearby residents.
Greenacre House in Cleveland Gardens, Trowbridge, is going to be extended to accommodate three single bedroom ground-floor flats and three two bedroom flats on the floor above.
The application received over 20 objection letters from residents on the road and the adjacent Rodwell Park during the decision period, with many concerned that the increased height of the building will overshadow their properties and lead to a loss of privacy, while parking will be made more difficult.
A number of residents also claimed that there are Jackdaws roosting in the building which will be affected by the development and there were also concerns regarding an increase in noise and that it will make it more difficult for emergency vehicles to access the area.
But despite the concerns, Wiltshire Council approved the application, submitted by Domus Fay Ltd, on June 1.
