WILTSHIRE has many romantic places and now VisitWiltshire is highlighting what it says are the top 10 wedding venues for your special day.

VisitWiltshire, which aims to raising awareness of Wiltshire and generate ing additional tourism, lists its favourites (in no particular order) as:

1. The Bear Hotel, Devizes

The Market Place in Devizes has recently been listed as one of the prettiest streets in Britain and The Bear Hotel is situated one side with a register office on the other.

The wedding venue space includes a ballroom with bar area suitable for celebrations for up to 100 people; the Ante room accommodates 20–30 people. Catering and refreshments can be provided by the professional team of staff. Venue hire prices from as little as £250.

2. Corsham Town Hall

Situated in the heart of Corsham’s picturesque High Street and almost opposite beautiful St Batholomew’s Church, the historic town hall makes an excellent wedding reception venue with a glorious backdrop for photographs.

The bright welcoming main hall, with its floor to ceiling windows will comfortably seat 100 people for a wedding breakfast.

Included is use of the kitchen together with crockery and cutlery plus tables and chairs. Venue hire prices start from as little as £31 per hour. Catering not included.

3. The Laverton, Westbury

The Laverton is a 19th century Italianate gothic palazzo situated just minutes away from the High Street.

The main hall, which can accommodate up to 200 guests, has stained glass windows which create the perfect romantic ambience for a lavish wedding reception. Venue hire includes the use of the kitchen together with its crockery and cutlery, tables and chairs.

The adjacent William room is perfect for drinks receptions and has its own private bar. Catering not included. Venue hire charges for weddings are £18 per hour plus VAT (minimum three hours).

4. De Vere Alexandra House Hotel, near Swindon

A modern Wiltshire wedding venue situated in 20 acres of sweeping grounds in rural countryside south of the Cotswolds.

The Wroughton Suite benefits from its own private bar and lounge area which opens onto the courtyard outside, whilst the Alexandra Suite offers a modern and stylish space with plenty of natural light. Suitable for all sizes of celebrations up to 240 guests.

5. Bowood Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort, near Calne

Bowood Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort is set in the 2,000 acre Bowood Estate being surrounded by spectacular ‘Capability’ Brown landscaped parkland and rolling Wiltshire Downs.

The hotel’s iconic Golden Gates entrance boasts a stunning tree lined driveway, perfect for arriving in style.

Wedding packages are available from £92 per person.

6. Beechfield House, Melksham

Beechfield House is a luxury country hotel set in 8 acres of beautiful countryside. There are four function rooms which are all licensed for civil ceremonies; the Garden Room (up to 70 people), Music Room (20 people), The Library (10 people) and The Card Room (eight people).

Beechfield House has been awarded two AA Rosettes for fine dining and a range of menu options are available. The hotel has 24 en-suite bedrooms.

Venue hire from £100 for ceremony only, wedding packages including wedding breakfast from £65 per guest and exclusive use from £2,400.

7. Grittleton House, Chippenham

This family owned stunning Grade 2 Listed Gothic Victorian mansion is set within 35 acres of private formal gardens and parkland.

Brimming with outstanding architectural features choose between beautiful indoor and outdoor areas including the Italian Sunken Garden and Terrace where guests can enjoy a glass of champagne before sitting down in the majestic Red Gallery to a delicious wedding breakfast prepared by the in-house Michelin trained chef.

Exclusive venue hire costs are from £2,200 mid-week low season 2018. Wedding breakfast three-course set menus from £36 per head.

8. Legacy Rose and Crown Hotel, Salisbury

This beautiful 13th-century former coaching inn on the banks of the River Avon, with stunning views over the water meadows towards Salisbury Cathedral, is the picture-perfect riverside wedding venue.

Its brand new waterfront event space The Orangery and newly refurbished Cathedral Suite recently opened and can accommodate receptions of up to 120 guests.

This hotel is a sought-after venue for weddings in any season. Wedding packages are available from £61 per person.

9. Owl Lodge, Lacock

The Owl Lodge, which was once part of a large farmstead, is now part of an outdoor events company Teampursuits. So if you’re looking for a wedding with an alternative outdoor motorised or country sport offering this one’s for you.

It also offers a cobbled yard, Cara’s Barn, a mezzanine dining area for 60 and the Orchard Room with capacity for up to 100 . Venue hire from £2,000.

10. Stourhead, near Warminster

The Temple of Apollo, overlooking the 18th-century landscape garden, is the perfect choice for a romantic ceremony. With its graceful stonework and unparalleled views, it was once described by Horace Walpole as 'one of the most picturesque scenes in the world'. Breathtaking vistas are perfect for wedding photographs.

The Temple is available every day except Christmas Day. The capacity is 30 inside the temple, but additional guests are welcome outside.

The venue hire price is £1,800 plus VAT. The Spread Eagle Inn nearby has five Georgian bedrooms and can cater for a reception for up to 40.
