TALENTED students at Wiltshire College got a chance to show off their creations in the Art and Performing Arts end of year Catwalk show.

Nine months of preparation went into the show at the Ark Theatre in Trowbridge on Thursday, for an evening where the students strutted their stuff, showing off their designs.

Dozens of students showcased their costumes, made up of recycled goods, plastics, printed materials, paper garments, melted fabrics, knitted designs and much more.

Show directors Helen Chivers, Jamie Wright and Richard Tulloch were thrilled with how the catwalk went, with Mrs Chivers saying it was the perfect way for the older students to finish their time at the college.

"It was a spectacular night and one that will live long in the memory for many people," said Mrs Chivers, course leader for level three arts design and contemporary fashion.

"We are so very proud of what they have all accomplished. It was a big team effort and some of the costumes on display were fantastic. The Art and Design and Contemporary Fashion students have been continually challenged to extend their understanding of Fashion and the Wearable art form; how to be imaginative with simple materials and how to solve both functional and aesthetic problems spontaneously.

"The Catwalk show has been the perfect opportunity to extend the learning beyond the class room and in to a real world scenario. Essential life skills have been used in abundance; communication, organisation, collaboration, responsibility and team spirit all contributing to the professional quality.

"It was the perfect way to finish off some of the students' time here. I want to thank everyone who made this possible, it was great."
