POLICE are investigating two burglaries after nearly £1,000-worth of goods were stolen from Staverton Convenience Store in two separate break-ins in just over 24 hours.

The Meadow Court store was broken into at around 2.20am last Thursday, where more than £300 was stolen and approximately £500 worth of tobacco and at 4.20am the next day, cigarettes and alcohol were taken in a second raid.

Damage was also caused to the window and door and as a result police have launched an appeal for information.

Community coordinator Alex Trombetta said: "For a shop to be burgled once can be upsetting enough but to be targeted twice in the space of two days has been understandably distressing, not to mention hugely inconvenient, for the shop owners.

"We are keeping an open mind but believe the incidents are linked and would like to hear from anyone who may have heard or witnessed any suspicious activity in the area overnight on June 28-29 and June 29-30.

"Officers have been fully investigating both incidents and extensive house-to-house enquiries have been carried out. We are also recovering all available CCTV footage which will be analysed."

If anyone has information, call police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
