A 94-YEAR-OLD Trowbridge woman will be given a private viewing of a documentary film about Spitfires that shows archive footage of her as a teenage worker.

Joyce Hunt, of Trowbridge Oaks Residential and Nursing Home, will be shown the Secret Spitfire film on Monday, showing footage of how she and others worked as a riveter at the old Newman Hender factory during the Second World War, assembling the planes.

Wendy Johnston, whose late mother Joan Little was also in the documentary, said: "I was gobsmacked by it all. It is amazing seeing my mother, her twin sister Betty Potter and Joyce in the film working away on the Spitfires in Trowbridge all those years ago. It has been beautifully made and I hope Joyce enjoys it just as much as I did."

Ethem Cetintas, the film's producer, said: "For more people to see this on a DVD we need £5,700 for copyright clearance of the archive material used to illustrate how the Spitfires were secretly constructed, and of life in the midst of the Second World War.

"Much of this material has never been seen before, without this the film will not get made into a DVD. The film received a standing ovation when screened at the RAF Museum in London to mark International Womens’ Day so I am sure Joyce will love it."
