MORE than 100 exhibits were on display and for sale at an 'Art in the Park' exhibition in Bradford on Avon on Sunday July 23.

The Art & Photography Exhibition was organised by the Lions Club of Bradford on Avon to raise funds for Lions charities.

Organiser Keith Yates said artists from Bradford on Avon, Winsley, Bath and Trowbridge had sent their work to the exhibition in Westbury Gardens.

"It's nice that local artists can show their work, even if they don't sell it. There is some really good talent around and the quality was very high.

"It's just a shame that the number of visitors was a lot lower this year thanks to the wet weather on Sunday."

This year, the club displayed 102 works, including 76 paintings and 15 photographs as well as a collection of 11 watercolours belonging to one of their members, Chris Penny.

For the first time, the club included a collection of photographs in the exhibition and this is a venture that Keith thinks they will expand next year.

As well as the paintings and photographs, the club sold teas and cakes and ran a tombola stall to raise a total of £200 towards their charities.

All the money they raise goes to support local, regional, national and international worthy causes.
