CALNE Town’s new management duo of Ben Redford and Clive McDaid are looking for consistency when they tackle the Toolstation League First Division this season.

After finishing last year’s campaign second-from-bottom, a squad overhaul has since taken place with nine new arrivals.

Pre-season has been fairly turbulent for Calne, who picked up wins against Downton and a Melksham Town XI, but they were beaten by Wantage Town and Kintbury Rangers.

Now, McDaid targets consistency for his side, as they look to improve on last season’s points tally of 34 from 42 games.

“The summer has been a bit mixed really because it has been quite hard to get everyone together, but the games we have had have been quite good,” McDaid said.

“It’s going alright and the lads are coming together nicely, obviously there is still a lot of work to do but they’re doing well.

“There are quite a few changes from last season. Numbers were low before that and some of the players from last year have moved on to other places.

“We just want a consistent side who are able to compete in the league, we aren’t looking too much because we have a lot of players who haven’t played at this level before.”

Calne will start their season away to Corsham Town.

Chippenham Park’s Brett Partner is hoping his side will pick up from where they left off when they kick start their new season at Almondsbury Partner watched his side slip to just one defeat in their final 17 outings at the end of last season.

Darrin Moss looks set for an impressive season for Park after he notched up four goals during their pre-season preparations, with two coming in a recent 4-3 defeat to Ludgershall Sport.

Devizes Town have added Graeme Lawton to their ranks as they look ahead to their first game of the season against Park.

Last year’s two top scorers for the club were Rob Mitchell with 14 and Tom Slater, who grabbed 12 goals last term.

Malmesbury Victoria, who will take confidence from their pre-season schedule after they managed to secure a 4-3 win over Royal Wootton Bassett, will kick off against Portishead Town.
