STAFF from McDonald’s in Trowbridge teamed up with Wiltshire Council and the 3rd Trowbridge Guides to spruce up the local area. Volunteers worked by bridges and tracks along Dursley Road, near the fastfood outlet at the Spitfire retail park, and collected 21 bags of litter.

Franchisee Mike Guerin said: “I was really proud to see everyone come together and help the community of Trowbridge. It’s a key priority of ours to ensure that the spaces around our restaurants remain an enjoyable place to live, work and visit.”

McDonald’s first began working with local communities when the company introduced litter patrols in the UK in 1992.

McDonald’s patrol the vicinity of their restaurants at least three times a day to collect all litter that has been discarded, regardless of its origin.

Local councillor David Halik said: “It was fantastic to work with local McDonald’s staff. We all had a great time litter picking and we enjoyed doing our bit to keep the local area tidy.

"I would like to thank McDonald’s for all their help, I can’t wait to team up with them in the future.”
