A WARMINSTER woman has beaten thousands of fellow spectacle wearers to become a regional finalist in the 2017 Specsavers Spectacle Wearer of the Year competition.

Sarah Kirk, 44, was presented with a certificate, a bottle of champagne and £150 eyewear voucher at the Specsavers store at Warminster Market Place.

The Terrier SOS volunteer said “I was very excited to find out I’d won. I’ve only worn specs for two years but I absolutely love them.

“The photo I used to send in with my entry was taken after I’d been on the beach with my dog Hector and I was looking a little windswept.

“I’m the kind of person who will give most things a go so I thought why not and sent it off.”

The competition has five age categories, 16-24, 25-34, 35-44, 45-59 and over 60s, as well as a public Facebook vote.

Richard Goring, store director at Specsavers Warminster, said “Sarah came in with a huge smile on her face which was lovely to see. She was clearly thrilled to have made it through this far.

“We’re all going to be crossing our fingers she can make it through to the final and wish her the very best of luck.”

National winners from each category will win a VIP makeover and the chance to attend the awards ceremony in London in October.

The overall winner from all categories will win £10,000 cash and £1,000 worth of new glasses.
