Clarendon Academy pupils have been picking up their A-level results today after spending two years working towards the qualifications.

Hannan El-Amriti was the top scoring pupil of Clarendon Academy achieving an A* in Biology, Maths and Chemistry and an A in English Literature and is now off to Oxford University to study Biology.

Head of sixth form, Nigel Copeman, said: “All students are to be commended on their efforts and we will be ensuring over the next few days that all of our Year 13 students can move successfully into higher education, further education or employment.”

Headteacher Mark Stenton said: “2017 results represent another very good year for A-level and Level 3 BTEC results at the academy. There has also been a record number of high grade passes which emphasizes the tremendous effort.”

Tara Hollister studied three BTECs and scored two Distinctions in Dance and Music and a Merit in Drama. She has become a top scorer and is off to Winchester University to study Dance and Choreography. She said: “I am really happy and can’t wait to celebrate later. Doing the BTEC involved so much coursework and now it has all paid off.”

Hannah Gale, head girl, is off to Bristol University to study Geophysics after studying for Maths, Physics and Geography A-levels and an AS in history. She has yet to open her results but discovered she had secured her firm choice after checking online this morning.

Hannan El- Amriti was the highest scorer and secured a place at Oxford University after achieving three A*s in Biology, Maths, Chemistry and an A in English Lit. She said: “I am just happy I got into my firm university choice, it’s been two years of non-stop work so I am really happy.”

Across the 145 A-level results a quarter were at A*-A grades and almost half were A8-B grades.

The overall pass-rate was 95 per cent.
