DANNY Greaves admits silverware is very much on his mind in his second season in charge of Bradford Town as he looks to build on a hugely encouraging start to the season.

The Trowbridge Road men went top of the Toolstation League Premier Division table after Saturday's goalless draw at home to Bitton, but the manager concedes it will be a couple of months before the main runners and riders start to come to the fore in the battle for league honours.

However, the Les Phillips Cup is a very different kettle of fish and while Greaves may use this Saturday's preliminary round tie at Calne Town to rotate his sizeable squad, it is still a competition he intends taking very seriously.

"Last year we got to the quarter finals of the competition and we went out with a bit of a whimper against Gillingham,'' he said.

"But it's my second season at the club now and we definitely want to try and win something, whether that be the Wiltshire Senior Cup, Les Phillips Cup or whatever.

"It would be great to bring a bit of silverware to the club.''

Bradford have yet to concede a goal in four league outings, their latest display of defensive strength coming on the weekend, although Greaves reckoned his side could have had more.

"On reflection, it was a fairly even game but on the chances that were created we had by far the better,'' he added.

"It was a tough game because Bitton have recruited heavily in the summer. The conditions were very windy too but we played very well in the first half, had control of the ball and we a bit unlucky not to go in a goal up.

"We can't complain after four games. Over the course of a season if you continue in that sort of form you are not going to be far away but it won't be until the end of September or mid-October that we will be able to reflect on where we are.''
