SEVERAL key roads in Hilperton will be closed for several weeks throughout September and October due to drainage repairs and resurfacing work.

Although Marsh Road, Hill Street and Church Street will be hit by the road works, which will be from 7am-5.30pm, only one will be closed at a time as Atkins Global are doing it in four phases.

From September 21-22, drainage repairs will go ahead in Church Street, followed by surfacing works along Marsh Road between September 25-26.

Then from September 27-October 3, more surfacing work will take place along Hill Street and the final phase will be involve surfacing works along Church Street from October 4-10.

The main diversion route for all through traffic whilst works take place within the road closure will be via B3106, Elizabeth Way, B3105 and vice versa.

Hilperton Wiltshire Councillor Ernie Clark said: "These works are five years overdue. It has continually been deferred so I am glad that it is finally going to take place.

"It is good however that they are doing it in phases so that one road at a time will be closed as it makes no sense to shut it all off when it is such a long stretch."
