KEEN runners, joggers, toddlers and pram pushers of all ages are being invited to enter the Bradford on Avon Lions Club Fun Runs later this month.

The runs take place on Sunday, September 24, with runners gathering at Culver Close near the town’s Tithe Barn.

The inaugural Fun Runs last year attracted more than 200 runners of all ages and raised more than £1,000 for Lions charity donations to the local community and the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

Organiser, Phil Courage, of the Lions Club, said: “The fun runs follow the outstanding success of last year’s events and are being supported by the Avon Valley Runners Club.

“The emphasis is very much on creating a family friendly event open to young children and those with disabilities as well as the more serious 5K run.”

People wishing to take part in the 2k fun run starting at 10am are invited to run, walk, toddle or push. It will be followed by a serious 5k run starting at 11am.

Toilets, showers, changing facilities and storage will be made available for those taking part.

To entertain onlookers, friends and relatives, the Lions Club has laid on live music from the Packhorse Band.

The 2k fun run is open to all, especially those with young children and people with disabilities. Pram pushers go free.

All children – who must be accompanied by a responsible adult – will receive a medal and a goody bag.

There will be trophies for the fastest girl and boy under 8, 10 and 12 years old. Online entry is £5 or £6 on the day if places remain.

The 5k run is open to all aged 12 and over. All runners will receive a medal and a goody bag. Trophies will be presented for 1st, 2nd and 3rd for male and female runners.

There will also be prizes for male and female 40+, 50+ and 60+. Online entry is £8 or £9 on the day if places remain.

Competitors should arrive at least 30 minutes before their event to register.
