CALLUM Demkiv took his goals tally to 18 in just seven Premier Division games with a hat-trick as Melksham Town Reserves won a see-saw struggle at Royal Wootton Bassett Town Development 5-3 on Saturday.

Visitors Melksham led 1-0 and 2-1 but then saw the tables turned with Bassett seizing a 3-2 advantage before Town came through in the latter stages to wrap up their sixth win in their opening seven games.

“It’s gone well so far so all we’re disappointed with is dropping those points when we lost at Cricklade last month. We were 2-1 up in that game and Cricklade were down to 10 men but we still ended up losing it 3-2.

“We’ve a few lads who have flipped between us and the first team, but that’s what we are there for and if the reserve are doing well in the league it’s a bit of a bonus.’’

Cricklade Town lead the way by two points after their 4-1 home win over Bremhill on Saturday, Devan Bryan leading the way with a treble, while Billy Sly added a fourth. Arnold N’Cube scored the consolation But second-placed Wroughton lost 2-1 at Devizes Town Reserves, for whom Jack Fisher with both goals.

Corsham Town Reserves surrendered a 2-0 lead to lose out 4-3 at home to Shrewton United, who netted through Dominic Jackson, Dean Smith, Nathan Osgood and Nathan Jones.

The first meeting between Purton and Trowbridge Town since their Hellenic League clash back in the 2011-12 season produced two red cards and only one goal as Purton’s Manni Mesas settled the contest.
