TROWBRIDGE-based food company apetito has two reasons to feel jolly after bagging a brace of accolades at the Food and Drink Federation Awards.

The UK's leading food producer for the health and social care sector won the FDF community partner prize and the innovation gong at an awards gala in London on Thursday.

The first award was won due to the company's partnership with Trowbridge's Alzheimer's Support, for which it has raised more than £40,000 since 2015, alongside its partners and suppliers and the second was for its Puree petite range of texture modified meals.

apetito Chief Executive, Paul Freeston, said: "We are delighted to have won two FDF Awards. It is testament to the hard work, dedication and vision of our entire team.

"All of us at apetito are passionate about making a real difference to people’s lives, whether that is through fund raising for our partner charities or striving to innovate."

The puree meals have been developed for people living with dysphagia, where people experience chewing and swallowing difficulties.

"The meals offer smaller, more manageable portion sizes, but are energy dense, thus tackling the issue of malnutrition amongst individuals with dysphagia," he added.

"The range has been entirely designed and developed by apetito’s in-house team of specialist nutrition experts including our on-site dietitian and nutritionist, alongside our team of chefs who are all dedicated to creating delicious meals which are nutritionally balanced, enabling everyone to enjoy mealtimes."
