THE LORD Lieutenant of Wiltshire officially opened the Goodson Lodge Care Centre in Trowbridge.

Although the Hilperton Road facility, which is a specialist dementia care centre run by The Orders of St John Care Trust, opened in June, Sarah Rose Troughton headed down to unveil a commemorative plaque.

Dan Hayes, OSJCT’s Chief Executive, said: "As a Trust, OSJCT is committed to creating new care schemes and facilities to meet the current and future requirements for the care of older people, and the opening of Goodson Lodge is the latest achievement towards furthering that mission.

"Now that its doors are open, we are confident that the home, with the specialist care it offers, will be a great asset to the Trowbridge area. We also encourage those within the local community to get involved with the home by becoming volunteers and spending time with our wonderful residents."

Goodson Lodge, which is built on the site of its former home, The Paddocks, offers accommodation for 64 residents and is the OSJCT’s fourth new home in the county in addition to its existing estate of 17 homes.

Aaron Whitehead, Area Operations Director for OSJCT Wiltshire homes, said: "We were delighted that we were able to mark the official opening with a visit from the Lord Lieutenant of Wiltshire. Our residents and employees were thrilled to welcome Mrs Troughton and were very keen to show off their new home."
