PEOPLE are being reminded to lock their doors and keep their keys out of sight after a car was stolen overnight in Warminster.

The victim only discovered that her black Toyota Auris had been stolen and crashed in Deverill Road at around 4am on Wednesday (October 4) after police traced it back to the address.

It is believed that three men broke into a house in Copheap Lane and stole the car keys before driving off in the car at some point overnight on Tuesday (October 3). The car was crashed shortly before 4am on Wednesday (October 4).

Community Policing Co-ordinator PC Charly Chilton said: “Anyone who saw anything suspicious relating to this incident, either near the address where the burglary occurred, or where the vehicle crashed, should please come forward and speak to us," she said.

“We would also like to take this opportunity to remind people about the importance of locking all doors and windows overnight and whenever you leave the house.

"People should also take care to move keys, wallets and valuables out of sight of doors and windows, as well as remembering not to leave spare keys in hiding places such as plant pots or under stones.”

Anyone with information should call Wiltshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
