A BRAVE eight-year-old from Trowbridge had 16 inches of her locks lopped off in a charity haircut to provide wigs for children suffering from cancer.

Charlotte Howell, of Longfield Road, got the idea for the haircut when she was a TV advert about the work the Little Princes Trust does by providing real hair wigs, for free, to children who lose their hair due to various illnesses.

And on Friday at her home, the Oasis Academy Longmeadow pupil had her hair cut for the charity, for which she has raised £180 for so far.

"I love my new haircut. It is so much easier to brush now I can do it for myself and I don't need to ask my mum for help," said Charlotte.

"This is a great charity which helps out children that have lost their hair and makes them feel good about themselves again.

"I would do this again if my hair grew that long again. I am proud that I will help someone that may have had cancer or lost their hair."

Her mother Caroline Morris added: "I am really proud of her for doing this. It was all her own idea to help others who are less fortunate than her. She cannot stop brushing her new hair now."
