NORTH Wilts made a fine start to the new indoor season, writes DAVE EATON.

The men began with an 86-76 win over Purnell in their opening Wessex League central section match while the mixed team recorded an 84-62 victory over Nailsea in the opening round of the national Egham Trophy inter club championship.

North Wilts will face St Andrews (Weston-Super-Mare), who have won both of their opening Wessex League games in a match scheduled for November 19.

The foursome of Norma Rowden, Ian Bristow, Jean Collier and Maurice Byron romped to a vital 23-shot victory to swing the aggregate scoreline in favour of North Wilts although they won the other home match and lost both games away in Somerset at Nailsea.

In the next round of the Egham Trophy set for Sunday, October 29 North Wilts have been drawn against local rivals Clarrie Dunbar (Standerwick).

TWO players from North Wilts IBC have been named in the Wiltshire men’s side to play Oxfordshire in the first round of the inter-county championship for the Liberty Trophy on Saturday, October 28 (10am).

Steve Snook has been selected as lead and Darren Anteney as number two in a rink alongside Nick Revell (Five Rivers, Salisbury) and Andy Moore (Christie Miller).
