A DRIVING instructor from Melksham said she was honoured to be the lead car for the Big Learner Relay in aid of Children in Need.

Nicky Corke, of Conway Crescent, was chosen to lead a convoy of seven cars from Southwick Country Park to the Pheasant pub in Chippenham on Tuesday, a ride from which she managed to raise £175.

The 37-year-old, who has her own business called ‘L 2 Drive’, was in the passenger seat and the organiser of the whole fundraiser, Louise Walsh, was in the back seat for 15 miles of the 3,000-mile long journey across the country over two weeks.

“It was a privilege to be chosen as the lead driver for this and it was great to have a Pudsey Bear top box on our spotty car and be part of a great fundraiser that many thousands of instructors and pupils take part in,” she said.

“It is nice to add a little bit to the overall fund that has raised around £50,000. Our learner driver Rebecca did a good job in the rain too.”
