THE BATH Camerata Choir makes a welcome return to historic Bradford-on-Avon this weekend to perform in the newly-refurbished Holy Trinity Church.

The concert takes place on Saturday, November 25 and starts at 7.30pm.

As a Grade 1 listed parish church but with an inclusive and modern tradition, Holy Trinity is an ideal venue for a concert of contemporary, beautiful, contemplative choral music.

A spokesperson said: “Bath Camerata is grateful to the Rector, Reverend Canon Joanna Abecassis, for inviting us to share music in such a wonderful space.”

The choir will sing a mixed programme of music entitled ‘The Passing of the Year’. Artists, poets and composers have often used the passing of the year’s seasons as a touching metaphor for the journey of life from birth to death.

Conductor Benjamin Goodson says: “I love this concert programme for its energy, positivity and the variety with which it tackles this deeply human subject matter.”

The title of the concert is taken from the centre-piece of the programme; Jonathan Dove’s ‘The Passing of the Year’.

Ben says “I’m certain that Jonathan Dove’s “Passing of the Year” will go down as a classic of the repertoire.

“It’s a brilliant set of songs for double choir and virtuoso piano accompaniment. It’s very rhythmic, with beautiful, haunting melodies.”

The programme will also include Frank Martin’s Mass for Double Choir, and Ben Parry’s lively arrangement of ‘It Don’t Mean a Thing’ as well as music by the current Master of the Queen’s Music, Judith Weir, and by one of Britain’s best young composers, Tarik O’Regan.

Tickets are £16 for adults and £8 for under 25s (unreserved seating). They are available from the Bath Box Office on 01225 463362 or at https://www.bathcamerata.co.uk/events/event/the-passing-of-the-year.
