THREE players from Warminster Pink Panthers girls rugby have been chosen to represent Wiltshire by playing for the county, just four weeks before being nominated for a Wiltshire Sports Award.

Just three years since the club was first formed, the Pink Panthers have already achieved more than they ever expected.

Young players Chloe O'Driscoll, 13, Yaisa Miller, 15, and Cerhys Gold, 13, were picked to play for Wiltshire Dorset County Rugby after the whole team entered the try-outs earlier this year.

To top it off, the club is now celebrating being nominated for junior team of the year at the Wiltshire Sports Awards.

Coach and referee Claire MacCarron said: "I cant believe the progress we have made in just three years.

"When we started up I said to the girls we will give it five years as you never know what could happen, and now we are doing great.

"Rugby is the fastest growing sport in the UK currently, and girls' and women's rugby especially is really taking off. The girls are loving it."

The award winners will be announced at the Corn Exchange celebration ceremony at the end of January.
