TROWBRIDGE homes were plunged into darkness after a power cut on Monday afternoon.
Shortly before 5pm, hundreds suffered a one-to-two minute long power cut due to a trip in the network.
A southern and Scottish Electric spokesman said: “We would like to apologise to those affected by the short interruption to the supply in Trowbridge this evening.
"This was as a result of our safety equipment activating, also known as a ‘HV trip’. This can be caused by debris coming into contact with our overhead network.”
