VOLUNTEER helpers are needed at the Marlborough Community and Youth Centre to support children now attending clubs and activities in the fully restored venue.

The call for help comes following the relaunch of the building on St Margaret's Mead taken on by Marlborough Town Council from Wiltshire Council in June. Clubs have already begun using the space after being transformed in just seven months through thousands of pounds of grants and town council funding.

Cllr Lisa Farrell has urged parents or members of the community keen to support the centre to volunteer some of their time with children of all ages.

Ms Farrell said: “It is vital that youths have somewhere neutral where they can go and have faith that their issues will be listened to. Now we need more volunteers to make sure the Friday youth club can run.

“Thank you to Marlborough College, Waitrose and Tesco for the support with the project, without them and the many grants we couldn’t have done this so quickly. Everybody in the community has got involved which has been really special to see.

“Now we need a youth worker to run more activities than just one youth group on a Friday night.”

Volunteers can contact Lisa Farrell on lfarrell@marlboroughcollege.org for more details and bookings for the hall can be made through Sue Fry at Marlborough Town Council.
