WOODBOROUGH primary school has been ranked nationally in the top one per cent of schools exceeding key stage two achievement.

Schools in the area topped performance lists in Wiltshire after the primary school performance tables were published by the Department of Education.

Lea and Garsdon Church of England Primary School in Malmsbury and Woodborough School, near Pewsey, had the highest amount of children exceeding standards in reading writing and maths for Key Stage 2 in Wiltshire. Two other schools from Swindon also had 33 per cent of children exceeding standards.

Minety Church of England Primary School was the second best performing school for overall performance, with 90 per cent of children meeting standard expectations.

Mark Banham, governor at Woodborough School said: “Our excellent results place us in the top one per cent of schools nationally for higher attainment. It is a combination of the work of our teachers and the school's overall drive to succeed in these key stage two measures which every primary schools strives for.”

The table has been published for 20,840 primary schools in the country from results of key stage two tests in reading, grammar, punctuation and spelling and maths.
