A CHEQUE for more than £300 was presented to the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association following Warminster’s popular vintage bus running day.

Crowds gathered to support the annual event back in October, and a final amount of £315 was presented to the charity last Saturday (December 23).

Organising committee president Bob Eade said: “We have supported the guide dogs charity by donating to them every year since 1995.

“We think it is a very worthy cause and like to support them as my wife and I have a golden retriever and so have a love of dogs as it is.

“We raise money from sponsorship and selling programmes, and after expenses are paid we donate the rest to the charity and have done for 23 years.

“We have now raised £4000 for them.”

Roy Cox, a representative from guide dogs for the blind who is 95 per cent blind and uses a guide dog himself, collected the cheque on the charity’s behalf.

He said: “Being a guide dog owner myself, I know how life changing they are. We are very grateful for the continuing support."
