A PROFESSIONAL pianist hopes to inspire the next generation of musicians by giving them the courage to step onstage and perform.
Kim Bott is taking music students out of the classroom and helping them discover what it really feels like to perform in her new class Music Platform. All instruments will be played as young musicians are encouraged to take pride in their talent while boosting self-confidence.
She said: “Hopefully it will give the students the chance to see other performers and be inspired to get better or even try out a different instrument.
“I love working with groups of children and the idea came about after I realised that although there are lots of drama groups, there aren’t many groups where musicians can practise performing in front of others.
“It is a good skill to have and I hope it will boost their confidence.”
Ms Bott, of Kingsbury Street, Marlborough, has tutored children for over 15 years having trained as a professional pianist at the Birmingham Conservatoire.
