RESIDENTS of Bradford on Avon will have a chance to discuss the town's flood defences with the Environment Agency next week.
The Government agency is staging a public drop-in session at St Margaret’s Hall from 4pm to 6pm on Tuesday, January 30 to outline options for its £1 million scheme to improve River Avon flood defences.
The Environment Agency is working in partnership with Wiltshire Council, Bradford on Avon Town Council and other organisations to investigate options for a flood alleviation scheme to reduce flood risk to Bradford on Avon from the River Avon.
The drop-in session will provide an overview of work that has been conducted so far and discuss options that are being considered. At present, no final decisions have been taken regarding future flood alleviation options.
Representatives from the organisations will be available to discuss any queries that residents have about the project.
The next step of the current project will look in more detail at design options to establish if a scheme is possible. At present, a public exhibition is expected to be held in summer 2018 to share further details of the proposed scheme.
The issue will also be discussed at next Tuesday's meeting of Bradford on Avon Town Council's town management committee at St Margaret's Hall at 7pm.
