BRADFORD Town boss Danny Greaves has a target in mind in his side’s quest to finish second in the Toolstation League Premier Division table, although he will just look to secure one point at a time.

The Bobcats are currently the nearest challengers to runaway leaders Street, who they face at Trowbridge Road on Wednesday night, although the Somerset side already have a 12-point cushion.

Bradford, Wiltshire rivals Melksham Town and Willand Rovers are separated by four points and although fifth-placed Buckland Athletic are five points further back, they do have two games in hand.

Greaves is in his second season at the helm at Bradford and has already achieved the club’s best-ever finish with fifth last term but would dearly love to better that this time around.

“You have to try to look ahead and we have an idea of what we will need to secure second spot, but you do just need to keep taking it one game at a time,” said Greaves.

“Everyone down to Buckland in fifth will probably still think they are in with a chance. We have still all got to play each other too, so it is going to be a tight run-in, that’s for sure.

“It is pretty incredible how far we have come in 18 months. This is pretty a much a new squad we have put together since I arrived at the start of last season.

“We had a good season last year to finish fifth but this year we have stepped on again.

“It is quite amazing to think that with only six weeks to go this season, we have lost just two games in the league.

“Unfortunately, that doesn’t count for anything and it is all about a mini season for us now and trying to get as many more points as we can.”

Bradford saw their advantage in second place trimmed at the weekend as they were held to a 2-2 draw at home to Hengrove Athletic.

Ben Crewe gave the visitors the lead at the break and although Karim Rendall restored parity on the hour, Craig Parsons soon put Hengrove back in front.

Bradford were able to earn a share of the spoils when Martin Lenihan netted a second equaliser, although Greaves felt it was an opportunity missed for two additional points.

“It was good character to come from behind twice as the conditions were difficult and Hengrove have been in decent form since the turn of the year, I think they are unbeaten in five now,” said Greaves.

“But it’s one we will look back on and be disappointed about, in truth, as we had enough chances to win two games.

“Their keeper also had one of those games where we could have played until the middle of next week and not scored a winner.”

Bradford are on the road on Saturday and travel to Chipping Sodbury Town.
