PEOPLE are being reminded not to call 999 over the Easter period for urgent medical care, leaving the service to deal with emergencies only, and to call the 111 line for out-of-hours care.

Some chemists will be open on Good Friday and Easter Monday, so that people with non-urgent medical problems can get advice before their GP opens again.

GP surgeries opening on Easter Saturday will only be seeing patients with pre-booked appointments.

Out-of-hours services will be provided on 111 by Medvivo outside the surgeries’ core opening hours and on Bank Holidays for urgent care needs.

Dr Richard Sandford-Hill, chair of Wiltshire Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “We’re encouraging people to be well-prepared ahead of the bank holiday and know where to go to access the right healthcare.

“We also strongly recommend that people check that they have enough of their routine medication to see them through the four day weekend.”
