A FLAG made by staff at Kingdown School to remember students who have died in recent years has been flown from the summit of Everest in their honour.

After leaving Warminster at the beginning of April, the flag reached the 8,848 metre summit at 1.55am last Wednesday.

Hand-stitched by Kingdown site manager Nick Trimby and his wife Nicky, who also works at the school, the flag includes the names of Louis Coldwell, Kimberley Office, Matthew Garrett, Hollis May-Suteau and brother and sister Millie Crouch and Jackson Watters.

The flag was entrusted to Sherpa Khumbiyila Adventures, which agreed to complete the trek after hosting the school’s Everest visit in 2014.

Mr Trimby said: “This incredible and touching tribute was only possible with help from our amazing friends in Nepal, Nima and his brother Nawang. The flag will remain on Everest as a touching tribute to these amazing young people.”
