SEVENTEEN youngsters from Melksham and the surrounding area have received awards for their amazing achievements.

They included a young boy with acute Crohn’s Disease, a girl with fibromyalgia, another girl who has undergone 13 operations in hospital, and the Melksham Town Under-13s girls’ team.

They were all winners in the Young Melksham Young People’s Awards presented at the Canberra Centre in Spa Road.

The annual awards celebrate some of the young people living in the Melksham area.

Cllr Jon Hubbard, chairman of Young Melksham, said: “We are so proud of all of these young people who are great representatives of our wonderful town.”

The award winners were: Alfie Robson, Sienna Bush, George Backhouse, Ciaran Hanks, Levi Brett, Megan Winter, Abbie Dark, Jack Carey, Cameron Williams, Mathew Murrell, Tilly Birkett, Jessica Gould, Jade Griffin and the Melksham Town Under-13s girls’ team.

The awards were open to any young person aged 18 and under living in the Melksham Community Area, including Melksham,, Bowerhill, Berryfield, Atworth, Broughton Gifford, Steeple Ashton, Great Hinton, Shaw, Whitley, Beanacre, Seend, Semington, Keevil, Bulkington and Poulshot.

The awards were sponsored by Selwood Housing Group, GreenSquare Group and Gompels Healthcare.
