THE Westbury town mayor opened the new Lions book shop after it moved into its new premises in Edward Street.

After receiving notice on its old premises on Warminster Road, the future of the book shop was uncertain.

But it was an appeal on social media which secured them the new unit, previously Mad Hatters, which was officially opened by the mayor Cllr Ian Cunningham.

A spokesman from Westbury Lions said: “This is thanks to the generosity of a local businessman and landlord as well as the appeal.

“Many Lions and members of the public have contributed to the preparation of the new bookshop, and we are hugely grateful to all those who have helped make the move possible.

“Many thanks to mayor Ian Cunningham for popping along to declare the new shop open too.”

The new Lions bookshop is open from 10am to 1pm, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
