Despite the poor weather to start to Bath, Wilts and North Dorset Gliding Club's open day it improve dramatically later and the club visitors had a memorable day of new experiences and exhilarating flights. No-one was disappointed with the day. Most of the flights were by a winch launch method, which are the most exciting and fun, and, although there was apprehension before the flights, everyone came down to earth with fantastic grins of achievement. They were delighted with themselves for having a go.

There was plenty of flying to watch whilst tucking into a bacon sarnie or a beef burger followed by a homemade cake, which were available all day. Club members were around all day to help people feel at home and learn a bit about the sport of sailplane gliding. All those who flew now have a temporary membership to come back and take further flights with qualified instructors. There will be a lot of people returning, but the club is open for flying every weekend at the Park, Kingston Deverill BA12 7HF. The website www.bwnd.co.uk has all the details. Members will welcome new people if they would like to come along and find out what they missed.
