A YOUNG computer whizz from Westbury is in the running to represent Britain in a global ICT challenge for young people with disabilities in India.
Jack Thomas, 14, who has been diagnosed with autism, was one of 21 hopefuls who took part Shaw Trust’s UK IT Challenge in Ipswich.
He was awarded the Super Challenger award for his efforts.
The aim of the competition is to complete tasks which highlight the role that digital technology plays in promoting and supporting social inclusion of those with disabilities.
Jack’s grandmother, Janis Thomas, said: “Jack is over the moon. This has boosted his self-esteem and spurred him on to do well in his education so he can be part of industry in the future.
“I would like to thank Shaw Trust on behalf of the whole family for giving so many competitors, and especially Jack, such a wonderful experience.”
The decision on who will represent the UK will be made by a judging panel later this year.
