CELEBRATIONS broke out at John of Gaunt after the Trowbridge school earned a Good Ofsted report.

The report stated that the leadership team has maintained the good quality of education in the school and that it is a highly inclusive one which benefits pupils and the local community.

It added that the teaching team are committed to the success of every pupil and the school’s ethos is supportive and caring.

Headteacher Mike Gunston said: "We are delighted that Ofsted have recognised the wonderful work and achievement of our students and staff.

"Inspectors understood the school’s inclusive ethos. They were really impressed with the strategies we have put in place to support all students to make excellent progress and reach their potential."

Inspectors visited the school on May 15 and said that since the last inspection, the school has maintained a strong focus on the quality of teaching a and it has created a positive and open culture.

The report highlights many strengths across the school, including its sixth form which was highly praised during the inspection.

Mr Gunston is being replaced in September by Paul Skipp.
