TWO people have been taken into police custody at Melksham after being arrested on suspicion of theft.

Police were called to a farm in Mere at approximately 3.45pm on Sunday afternoon (17 June) following a report that two people had been disturbed attempting to steal metal from a workshop on the site.

The landowner and others at the scene detained a man and woman and police were called.

Officers arrested a 27-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man, both from Salisbury, on suspicion of theft and they remain in police custody. Enquiries are ongoing.
