MILITARY heroes from the past and present will be honoured when Wiltshire Armed Forces Day returns to Trowbridge.

Trowbridge Park will full of parades, rifle displays, military drills, bands, choirs, vehicle displays, skirmishes, a static Spitfire, a First World War tank, living history groups and a flypast on June 30 and July 1.

Proceedings on the Saturday will get underway with an opening ceremony at the bandstand at 10am and that will be followed by the Steeple Rocks Choir, Trowbridge Air Cadet drills, uniform displays, Wessex Military Band, Infinity Dance and Stagecoach on both the top and bottom field.

One of the event organisers, Maryrose Mantle, said: “This is such an exciting time of the year for us. It is always a very special weekend and this one will not disappoint.

“We have so many things for people to enjoy over the two days, from living history to parades and a lot more. This is a great way to recognise what people have done whilst serving in the British Armed Forces. It is wonderful that we can honour the military like this.”

There will also be rides, all sorts of children’s attractions, balloon modellers, classic cars on show, a big Scalextric and a vast array of stalls.
