ROWERS from Bradford on Avon Canoe Club put up a great performance at their annual race weekend.
In total 41 paddlers took part in the Bath to Bradford on Avon race on Saturday and the town’s kayakers took first, second and third places.
The paddlers included James Escott with Connor Peters, Steve Missen and Tom Simmons, and Mark Escott and Richard Lewis.
On Sunday, there was a record number of entries with 180 paddlers and, of the 17 race classes, the Bradford on Avon Club had seven competitors in first place, four in second place, and three in third place.
Club spokesman Simon Kay said: “We had a great showing from our racers, we took the top spot on the day and earned the maximum club points, all helping us to get to the Hasler Finals in September.”
Bradford on Avon is part of the Hasler Races South West region, with 13 clubs competing from Cornwall, Devon, Bristol, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Dorset, Somerset and Bath.
